Pilar Rigon came to NYC with her mom’s hand written recipes in a notebook and the dream to cook traditional Italian food for the people of New York. Now with two restaurants under her belt she and her husband/business partner Bernardo own and operate Mille Nonne, meaning “A Thousand Grandmothers.” Their goal is to bring happiness to everyone through delicious food with a sustainable, affordable, and zero-waste approach.

When you come to pick up a veggie lasagna (one of Eater’s top dishes at Essex Market) or turkey meatballs for lunch, you’ll be greeted by a warm “ciao” and a friendly smile.
