Peg and Deb met while working in a theater production in the mid 90s, and as a side gig they both worked at Magnolia Bakery where their love of cupcakes turned into obsession. In 2002 the friends decided to take a leap of faith and open up their own bakery.

Sugar Sweet Sunshine was officially opened at 126 Rivington Street in 2003, and as of April 2019 their second location debuted at Essex Market. You can’t miss their extensive display housing mouthwatering and award-winning cupcakes and puddings to grab and go. Try the chocolate chip deliciousness--it’s our favorite!
