Fresh Bites
Fresh Bites is a free cooking and nutrition education program that focuses on how to prepare fresh fruits and vegetables found at Essex Market — and use them as the base for cooking delicious, healthy and affordable meals. The majority of Fresh Bites participants are older adults, but classes are open to the public and offered with Spanish and Cantonese translations.
The Fresh Bites curriculum can also be adapted for school-aged children and youth, as well as adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Contact us about hosting a Fresh Bites class for your group.

School Partnerships & Kids Classes
Essex Market values our relationships with the teachers, students and families from NYC schools, and we frequently partner to offer hands-on experiences at the market. We work closely with school staff to support their curriculum with market tours and cooking workshops that tie into health, science and social studies for students in pre-kindergarten through high school.

Many other local tour companies include Essex Market as a stop on their Lower East Side tours. Individuals can also request specially curated tours for their own group experiences.
